Self-care is more than just fun. A lot of times it’s about looking at the things that are going wrong in your life and then doing what you need to do to fix those things. It’s not easy! Self-care is hard. Loving yourself is hard, but you can do it!

But today, I can say for sure that I am good enough and I love myself completely. I’m going to share with you 4 things you can start doing today to start loving yourself more, because yes – you deserve to love yourself.

A few years ago, I really hated it and it affected not only me but everyone.
The First Step Towards Loving Yourself
Today, I can honestly say that I love it unconditionally (not all the time, but most of the time) and it’s because I practice these 4 things that I’m going to share with you today.
Instead of saying, “I’d love it if…”, “I’d love it if…”, or “I’d love it but…”, just say “I love it” because that’s really all it takes.
So I don’t have to choose one or the other. It is your choice. Love yourself in the past and who you will be in the future, but the most important thing is to love and give yourself time now. Right now.
Next time you find yourself saying, “I’ll love it if I lose 10 pounds.” Stop. Remember that you should love now, in this moment.
How To Start Loving Yourself Today!
Have you ever heard Gandhi’s words, “Your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”?
I’ve been hating for almost two decades and doubting it for over twenty years – so while I don’t hate it anymore, I spent a few years after that doubting it.
Also, be aware of what you are saying to others. Because when we speak in a negative or negative way to others, we are really expressing and showing how we feel about ourselves and the world.
If you want to love yourself more, don’t hate the way you hate your arms or thighs or whatever, which brings me to my next post…
When You Begin To Love Yourself
Instead of focusing on what you don’t like about yourself, focus on what you like about yourself.
I will tell you the truth. I hate to say this in the video, but… I don’t like my triceps. I call it “bat wings” which has a negative connotation to it.
On days when I focus on the parts I don’t like about myself, I don’t feel good, it affects every other part of my life, asking the question, “What do you get out of beating yourself up?” (Answer: Lots of reasons to hate. Other than that maybe a little shame and guilt.)
But when I start focusing on the things I like about myself, like my hair, how I feel when I’m wearing clothes (that’s why you’ll see me wearing clothes in many of my photos), my personality, compassion, the ability to connect on a deep level with people, etc. it feels good.
What Happens When You Love Yourself?
And as I said in point 1, you love yourself. Now it is. Everything is there.
Self-love is a daily choice, however difficult it may be. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s easy to hate yourself. Even when others make it difficult for you.
Simply put, it’s a priority. And putting yourself out there may not come naturally…it may seem strange, but if you do it enough times, it will become a natural occurrence.
It’s about putting your happiness, your wisdom and your love first. You’re saying to yourself, “I deserve it. I’m loved,” that’s you.
Self Love Is The Most Powerful Force In The Universe
There will be many emotions and feelings to come. Doubt, shame, anxiety, hope, inspiration, etc. Listen and let go of those who don’t. Allow time to forgive, heal and love again.
And the next time you’re wondering why you’re not “there” and wondering if this deep inner work is worth it, know that it is. And you will get there, but remember that it doesn’t happen overnight and that there is nothing wrong with it.
Remember to give yourself time and space. Self-love is not something you learn overnight or even in a month, especially when you’ve been hating yourself for years and maybe even decades. I was there and I remember what it was like.
But I’m also here to tell you that life doesn’t have to be like this for you. It is possible to have a healthy, wonderful relationship with yourself.
