End Of Year Writing Prompts

End Of Year Writing Prompts – At the end of the school year I always have students write about their favorite memories or what they learned. It’s a great way for them to practice their writing skills and gives me insight and feedback on what we enjoyed most about our time together.

I usually turn it into a craft and make year-end bulletin boards showing their work. However, this year was quite different due to COVID-19 and since we are not in the classroom and not all students have access to craft materials, I had to create writing prompts for distance learning at the end of the year.

I decided to continue using the same cute bulletin board themes and end of year crafts I had done in the past so that they would still be fun for the students to complete, but they could be done digitally or on a printable page.

You can share them during your online class meetings as a fun way to review your school year together.

These end of year writing prompts can be easily completed in Google Slides (Google Classroom), Seesaw, or printed and sent in a take-home packet.

Keep in mind! I added these distance learning writing prompt options to my end-of-year bulletin board resources. If you’ve already purchased my End of Year Bulletin Board and Craftv resources, visit the My Purchases page on Teachers Pay Teachers and download the updated file for free (you don’t need to purchase the digital option separately).

It’s almost the end of the school year and these end of year writing prompts are the perfect writing activity to reflect on and record the end of the school year. Most prompts encourage students to talk about what they have experienced and learned throughout the year, but there are also some opportunities to express opinions and be creative in telling fictional stories. They’re fun, thoughtful, and easy to use during the final weeks of the school year.

Each writing prompt comes with a writing organizer to help students generate their thoughts and then a draft page to write drafts and final drafts as they improve their writing. I have included and edited checklists to encourage them to review their work and edit it themselves. All printables come in black and white to save ink, but have fun images to match the theme of the message.
