When Will I Start My First Period – Puberty happens gradually. As your hormones change, so does your body. In the years leading up to your first period, you’ll notice changes in your chest, chest and pubic hair. Your body will be like an adult, and pregnancy is possible.
In most people, these changes appear between the ages of 8-10, but it can happen earlier or later (1, 2). Your period occurs between one and three years later (2–2.5 years for most people) (3, 4).

When Will I Start My First Period
Waiting for the first period can be frustrating, and it can be difficult to know when your period will start. The first step to predicting when you will get your first period is to ask your birth mother when it happened to her (if you can). Besides that, your body can give you a few signs that can help you make a good guess:

Most people get their first period 2-2.5 years after the breasts start to develop (3, 4). At first, small lumps in your breasts and breasts are raised. If you don’t have acne, you may get the first pimples at this time. For some people it happens later. You may also notice that your skin is very oily, and your sweat and armpits smell (9). Puberty is a normal period of puberty, so washing your face frequently or eating different foods may not help. If your acne is severe, or if you think the growth of hair on your body or face is unusual, talk to your healthcare provider. They will let you know what is normal, and if there is anything that can help.

Your body shape and size change rapidly before your period starts. Menstruation usually starts six months to a year after your growth spurt (after the “growth spurt”). This is an average time, but it may be different for you. It can happen two years before your first period, or around the same time as your first period. If you’re tracking your height, and you see it change rapidly and start to slow down, your first period may be on the way (12-14).
My First Period: What Age Do Periods Start?
Along with changes in your height and weight, remember that it’s normal for your pant size to get bigger as your waistline grows. Some parts of your body will be thicker and rounder, while other parts will stay the same.
The look and feel will change again. You can check the changes yourself using a small mirror. The outer labia will be thin, the inner labia will be large and wrinkled, and your clitoris will gradually grow in size (6).
Sometimes after your breasts start to grow, you may notice some fluid in your underwear. Your baby may feel more moist than before (15). Some people experience this 6 to 12 months before their period starts (16). Water came out of the woman. It may be a thin, clear liquid, and will not have much of an odor. This happens as your uterus grows a new environment of healthy bacteria, and becomes more acidic to protect your reproductive tract from bad bacteria (15).
As you approach your first period, you may notice that your vaginal fluid changes every day. Even if you haven’t had your period yet, this is the start of your period. Your time is more than just your time. The hormones in your body rise and fall with each cycle, as your body prepares to release an egg. Your menstrual cycle is one of many things that changes with these hormones. Sometimes there will be more rain, sometimes less. Sometimes it can be clear and dark, like a moisturizer, or light and clear, like egg white. It will be easier to see these changes during the cycles
How Long Does A First Period Last?
Finally, it’s important to note the normal smell, feel, and changes in your vaginal fluids. Pay attention to what’s in your underwear. Use clean fingers to feel and smell the fluid around your vagina. Knowing what’s normal for you will help you see if anything is “off” in the future.
Do not try to wash off vaginal discharge with soap – discharge is normal! Your child is doing amazingly well. It can remove bacteria from your reproductive system by “douche” on the vagina or wash inside with soap. This can make your vagina smell funny, painful, and overall unhealthy (17, 18).
The arrival of your breasts, pubic hair, and first period can feel overwhelming, intimidating, scary, exciting, or all of these things at the same time. Traditions throughout history have marked the arrival of the first season with a ceremony or celebration. If you or someone close to you is happy to start your period, why not find time to celebrate?
This could mean getting together with family members to mark an event and share stories, meeting with friends to buy or make follow-up products, or writing a journal or letter to yourself. Talking to someone you trust about how they feel and what to expect can also help.
