Losing weight the easy way involves a few basic principles: a meal plan, healthy foods, and a shopping list.
Tracking what you eat can actually be an incredibly useful tool. It doesn’t have to be something you do forever. Even following for a few days can be an eye-opening experience. When you keep track of what you eat, you’ll know where most of your calories are coming from. So you can see what’s really worth it to you.
If pen and paper is not your style, use an app. I like the Lose It app (unlike My Fitness Pal) because there are fewer dishes, which means less confusion when trying to choose chicken.
How do you determine the right amount of calories for you? I have honestly found that the algorithms and calculations of the programs based on your height, weight and gender are very inaccurate because they do not take into account your metabolism.
The Essential 800 Calorie Mediterranean Diet 15 Minute Meals
This is where tracking your meals really comes in handy. I recommend tracking what you normally eat (no restrictions) for 3-5 days, then subtracting 100-250 calories from the average. That way, your new calorie goal will be in line with your metabolism and doable in the long run (there’s no point sticking to a 1,200-calorie-a-day diet, only to then go back to your “normal” eating pattern and Gain weight again, right?)
Please note that I did not say “remove”, just reduce. I don’t believe that exclusion will help your overall goals.
What are starchy carbohydrates? Starches include grains such as bread, rice, pasta and quinoa, as well as starchy vegetables such as beans, peas, corn and potatoes.
A serving size of starch is usually 120 calories and is equal to one slice of whole grain bread, 1/2 cup of cooked rice, quinoa or beans, or 1 cup of starchy vegetables such as corn.
How To Lose Weight At Home In 15 Days With These Scientifically Proven Steps
The best way to reduce starch content is equal replacement. A medium roast potato has approximately 30 grams of starch. A medium sweet potato has only about 8 grams. When you make that change, you can still eat potatoes with your meal.
Eat your veggie burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. Then you’re still eating your favorite lunch, just tweak it a little for a better fit
