I have discussed each of the IncFile website options when registering your LLC. IncFile offers some update options that you may find interesting or helpful. Everyone will decide if they are willing to pay a little for these “extras”. Some people will just want to be bare bones so they can have their own LLC for free.

One trick to save money when forming an LLC is that each state has different LLC application fees. This state LLC filing fee is optional and is the only fee you will pay. If you’re running an online business, it pays to choose a state with low registration fees.
Starting A New Business
If you follow our IncFile to start and LLC FREE example, you need to choose the original “package”. The Gold and Platinum packages have additional features that you may consider, but these additional features are not required. Most of the extras they charge you can do yourself. It’s a luxury you paid for. Some people choose them just to make their lives easier, but this comes at a cost.
To set up a limited company for FREE, choose the original Silver package. It has no bones and is just bone.
If you are not in a hurry, choose the free option. This free option takes 5 days instead of the 1 day rush. This will save you $50 if you are patient :-).

The next step is to decide which address to use for the LLC. Most of us would be happy to use our home address. However, some people who are concerned about privacy may not want their home address published for the world to see. Anyone can search your LLC name and find your business address.

Once you’ve followed our IncFile example on how to start a free LLC, the next step is to fill out your membership information. This is obvious. Simply fill out each member of the new LLC and declare them as an individual. You can also have a corporation or another LLC that will be a member of your new LLC, but that is beyond the scope of this article :-).
In this example, I introduce myself as the senior member and own 90% of the company. I also made my wife a member and made her a 10% shareholder.

The most important thing to decide is whether to be your own registered agent or use the services of a registered agent.
Did you set up your LLC in the same state you live in? If so, you can become your own registered agent and save over $100 a year! Just enter your name and address and that’s it :-).
If you are setting up an LLC in a state where you do not live (to save money on filing fees or annual fees), you MUST set up a registered agent service. All states require a PERSON in the state in which the LLC is formed to receive mail during normal business hours.
If you are choosing an Enrollment Agent service, I recommend Northwest Enrollment Agents. If you find it easy, you can use IncFile’s registered agents. The choice is yours.

IncFile now asks again if you want them to set up an EIN for you at a cost of $70. Since we are forming an LLC for FREE, the obvious answer is that we want to say no.
You can register your EIN with the IRS yourself literally in five minutes here: IRS EIN. We leave it up to you whether $70 is worth five minutes of your time :-).
Here, IncFile will see if you are interested in setting up a small business bank through one of its partners. These are usually large banks like Bank of America and the like. This is where we recommend using a local credit union to meet your small business banking needs. The choice is yours – it costs no extra money if you want one of our partners to contact you.

As one of the last steps, IncFile will ask you if you want to email your LLC documents or if you want to pay $25 to have them sent to FedEx. Since we are trying to set up a free LLC, we will go with the cheap email method. Some people like to have a physical document in their hands and are willing to pay a little to get it. I will repeat: the choice is yours :-).
This is a free option if you want someone to contact you and help you discuss anything. If you are familiar with taxes, you do not need to ask for help. But it’s okay to check “Yes” if you want someone to contact you.

If you want it cheap (ie free), go to your county or city website. They will tell you everything you need to know about business licenses and other types of licenses that are required.
