The program requires successful completion of academic courses and clinical practice knowledge and aims to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to modernize the development and provision of occupational therapy to meet the evolving needs of Singapore’s population. Graduates who meet the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC) requirements for registration and practice as occupational therapists will work in a variety of settings. Graduates of SIT Occupational Therapy will be competent critical thinkers, professionally oriented, evidence-based, reflective and self-directed therapists.
Note that the guidelines and requirements for health care workers also apply to health science students. Failure to follow these instructions may affect your ability to complete course requirements, graduate, gain admission or employment, and meet your bond obligations. Following these guidelines is important to ensure the successful completion of your studies and career opportunities in the healthcare industry.
Pedagogy is tailored according to the type of content to be taught. For example, team-based learning, a fragmented classroom format, uses structured small group learning that emphasizes student preparation and application of knowledge in the classroom. Problem-based learning will help students integrate knowledge into situations while promoting inquiry and self-study skills. Lectures, tutorials and practical sessions will be used as per requirement in various modules. Various assessment methods (eg, group projects, simulated clinical scenarios) will be used to assess higher-order thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
A quality and up-to-date curriculum is ensured by accreditation and accreditation processes through the Industry Advisory Committee, Occupational Therapists in Clinical Settings, the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists, as well as the AHPC and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
Fees & Funding
All occupational therapy students are required to complete approximately 1,200 hours of clinical practice (CPE) in a variety of clinical settings. Such clinical placements prepare students for real-world clinical practice. Students therefore apply theoretical and clinical knowledge and gain confidence in clinical skills. Students must complete all clinical placements to complete the program and register under the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC).
The Career Change Program (CCP) supports and assists mid-career Singaporeans to acquire the necessary education to obtain the qualifications required to register as occupational therapists in Singapore. SIT currently offers the following programs for occupational therapists as part of CCP:

SIT selects candidates for this program on the basis of passion and aptitude for the profession, academic achievement and participation in academic programs. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a series of mini-interviews covering various stations that will assess various important attributes such as communication skills.

H1/H2 has passed well in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Economics and has also submitted General Paper or Knowledge and Questions in the same meeting fulfilling mother tongue requirement. .
