You will find it much easier to get started if you have all or most of the information you need beforehand.

One of the most fun and effective ways to do this is brainstorming. Write down all the events in your life, big or small, as they happen to you.

Don’t just write down events – record your thoughts, feelings, and sensory experiences such as smells, sounds, and touches.

Be patient – allow yourself a few weeks for this. Aim to have at least 500 memories on your list before you start writing.

For example, childhood, work, marriage, family, travel, retirement and put all the events in the right section in the frame.

This will be difficult to do until you start writing your life story, so my advice is to wait until then.

As you write, you will find it easier to figure out where one chapter should end and another chapter should begin.

You can do it the usual way – start from the time of your birth and write the whole story in chronological order.

However, readers often find it more interesting if you start with a particular climactic event, something that changed your life.

In the following chapters, you can go back to the beginning and show how the events in your life led to this climax and the results.

There are many other ways to start – for example, you can introduce a mystery or a puzzle, something that intrigues you, and reveal the answer in the following chapters.

Or start in the present tense by recalling an important event, and then describe the events leading up to it.

It helps to have a designated place to write, preferably a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.

Once you’ve gone through and corrected your mistakes as best you can, you’ll still need another set of eyes.

If not, introduce the word to your friends and acquaintances and find someone who is familiar with spelling, grammar, and punctuation and is willing to check your poor handwriting for you.

To make your story as interesting as possible, I highly recommend doing the last step.

Many professional writers do this; it’s a great way to find sentences that sound jumbled or don’t make sense, or words that are wrong.

If you are writing your story just for family and friends, you can create your own book using an online publishing program, or you can hire a publisher to do it for you.

But it’s best to get it locally if possible, as that will cut down on your shipping costs.

Read the publisher’s terms and conditions carefully to make sure you know exactly what you are paying for and what is not included.

Many publishers will also give you the option of publishing your book to be available in bookstores for public purchase, if that is your intention, although marketing the book will be up to you.

No matter how experienced the seller is, it is impossible to know or predict how many copies a book will sell.
