Today I wanted to talk to you about Private Practice Mindset. What is personal training? So when you start a private practice or grow or scale your own speech therapy private practice, there is a certain mindset that one must have in order to achieve certain goals and it is not the same mindset. As an employee, I remember when I worked in a nursing home that I had to be there early in the morning at 06:30-07:00 to work with dysphagia patients. We had to make our breakfast and take care of all that and we had to get there early and I had to lock him up. I have to see all my patients, see how many patients I have today. Try to put in that document time so that we can meet our Rugby standards and get out on the clock. So you don’t want your productivity to drop because you don’t want to get in trouble with the boss. I mean, that was my thinking when I worked for the nursing home. And I’m sure most of you there are totally what I said. That’s a different way of thinking compared to practicing the Self where when you have your Self Self, you see what you want to achieve and you can express it to the universe and not go hippie here. I’m just saying that you have to be able to see this and then when you see your building or your staff helping patients, I mean that’s when you get into this mindset.

And I’ve broken this down into seven parts so you can have a growth mindset. Number one – you have to be able to push the limits and you have to dream bigger and you have to have a vision. You should see this too. You have to know deep in your soul that what you want to do will work.

And for those listening now, I was serious about whether it will work or not because some people want it and want it badly. I’ve talked to a lot of people and they want something they can taste. They want this Private Practice but they are not ready yet. They have tons of bills. Because when I talk to people when people reach out to me on the Contact page/contacts email me every time I surprise people because I pick up the phone and call and ask them these questions, what kind of guilt do you have? And some people say, “I have fifteen thousand dollars.” and they are not ready because what happens when they get a bump in the road and need more money. And people say my credit lines are perfect.

I always say to someone if you have a lot of debt, “Get out of debt first”, because again Private practice, you want to work for yourself. You don’t want to work for a bank. That’s what you should be able to do. You have to push the limits. Dream big and have a vision, but you can’t be in debt.

Another thing I have said to people with substance abuse problems. Those things will stop you from dying in your debt-ridden drug addiction ways. It’s just too true. Some people won’t say it, but I will say it’s very true. And you need to make sure before you start. So you need to get your house in order if you know what I mean.

The second figure is Risk versus Benefit. I mean you have to take healthy risks. You have to push the envelope to make things happen. But like I said in number one, you don’t want to borrow a ton of money because you work for a bank. But let me say this that there is nothing wrong with borrowing a little money. I had $10,000 in debt that I used to accumulate and then pay it off and pay it off and pay it off, but I never got past that top ten because when I started Speech Therapy Private Practice I had some money saved, was It’s not a ton of money, but it wasn’t cheap to begin with. I mean, I’ve seen people say you can do it with this money and that money. I don’t think there is a certain way to start that private career. I don’t think there’s a dollar sign, but for me, I know I didn’t want to consider a lot of hair.

I recently spoke with an owner of a private practice who closed their doors because they had high dollar rent and had some patients but not much in return. And great workers people this goes quickly belly floats up. And now that someone is in deep debt, go back to step one is what we say again, you have to be prepared and have money for a rainy day. So again taking healthy risks, pushing the envelope and making things happen.

Number Three – Learn from your mistakes. Yes, we’ve all heard that, but we also learn from the things that work. As the owner of my own practice, I would push harder. I can only make things faster. So when things work well, I want to do that again and again and rinse and repeat. But if it doesn’t work I don’t want to do it again. I have had many conversations with Esther, she is our office manager and those of you in the All Access community have probably heard of Esther.
