Whatever your situation, there’s more to blogging than just buying a domain name and web host
Preparing Your Personal Testimony
I’ve put together an in-depth guide to help you plan your blog as you get started as a Christian blogger as well as share blogging lessons I’ve learned.
Know your reasons? Why do you want to start a Christian blog? Is it to share your faith, or to earn extra income to support your family?
We can easily get distracted by the lifestyles of popular bloggers who make a full-time income online from their blogs.
Know this, blogging is not a get rich scheme, success does not happen overnight. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication with your blog. If money is your motivation, you will quickly become discouraged if you don’t see your blog making any money.

As a Christian blogger, at the forefront should be the desire to build a ministry that helps spread the gospel and draw your readers closer to God.
Spend some time sharing your desires with God and let Him guide your blog. Find an area that you are passionate about and can talk about at length and let it be the focus of your blog. Alternatively, find an area where you don’t mind continuing to learn and keep up with new trends.
For those days when you feel like giving up, it’s ultimately your passion and mission that will help you stay motivated.
For me, my desire was simply to write, and to have the opportunity to share and grow my faith in the process. Just a side note, starting a faith-based blog is a great way to grow your faith. After all, you can’t write what you don’t know, so you’ll often find yourself wasting time on words.

Blogging is more than just writing about what you love, honestly, it’s not about you. It’s not just writing about your family or how you spend your holidays. Blogging is all about selecting content that your readers will enjoy and find useful. For a Christian blogger, it’s about creating content that draws readers back to Christ. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded us, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Blogging is one way you can achieve this.

I’m all about affordable blogging. I know many bloggers recommend SiteGround or BlueHost but personally I use NameCheap for both my domain and host. Their customer service is great, when I have a problem, they have a representative available to troubleshoot and help me resolve the issue. After all, I don’t see my annual domain and hosting fees skyrocketing at renewal time.
If you’re just starting out and want an economical option, I’d recommend buying a domain through Cheap Names and using NameCheap EasyWP for hosting. Check to see if your domain name is available.
Once you buy a domain, you want to buy a host, I recommend NameCheap EasyWp.

Raise your hand if you like free and challenge? I am guilty as accused! There are some excellent resources out there though. I’ve signed up for almost every cool freebie. Something I don’t need and don’t have enough to complete. Once I started being more strategic, I noticed that my stress level dropped, and I had one less thing on my to-do list.
Instead of signing up for every free webinar, I only sign up to meet my current goals. Register for each one that bothers you. For me, it always blows me away because suddenly there are still new techniques I want to use if I want to see significant traffic.
Whenever you come across a free resource, ask yourself this question. Is it in line with my current goals? If not, just ignore it. Just sign up to receive a free gift that aligns with your current purpose as a Jesus blogger. If you think this is something you’d like to see in the future, create a future training word document on your computer and include the free donor’s name with the opt-in page for your future reference.

This one still struggles a lot for me. Some weeks I shiver and kill it while other weeks I struggle to keep my head above water. When it comes to blogging and building a loyal tribe, consistency is key to blogging trust.
Let me break it down for you. Think about your favorite TV series. Week after week you watch the episode and it puts you on a high. Is he or she you question, patiently wait for the next episode to get your answer. But what if things were different, if the series came out this Monday and then next week on Friday and then the next episode a month later? Eventually, even if you like it, you may lose interest. It’s like Jesus’ blog. You’re building a community based on your audience knowing what they can expect from you and your blog They want to know that every Thursday or any day of your choice, they can expect an encouraging word to appear in their inbox or blog.
To do this, you need a plan. Doing something haphazardly won’t give you the full effect or results you’re hoping for. It took me a long time to realize this. This year, I’m using this blog planning toolkit to lighten the load and help strategize and map out my blog content. It helped me map out a clear goal and vision for my blog. Think about what will give you the best results and put your focus there to help simplify your strategy.
I’m sure you’ve heard it; The money is in the list. You need to build an email list, focus on search engine optimization and Pinterest, create freebies, the list goes on. What I understand is that individuals promoting these initiatives, even if they have good intentions behind them, often have a team behind them or established bloggers. Here is my advice to all trust blog newbies. Go at a pace that works for you, once successful, move on to the next thing. Trying to do everything is often hit and miss. Speaking from experience here, I tried it all and my growth suffered as a result. Prioritize what’s important, then move on to something else when you’ve completely mastered that item. Don’t be a jack of all trades and master of none. Spending time learning SEO was the best decision I ever made for my blog!
