The Over Hand scarf is very easy to tie, looks neat and functional and protects the neck well in cool weather.
Wrap the scarf around your neck so that one end is longer than the other. Take the longer end of the scarf, cross it over the short end, then bring it under the opening near the neck and through to tie.
After tying the knot, tighten the scarf at both ends until you are happy with the look. I think this scarf knot looks best when one end is slightly longer than the other.
This is a great way to wear a scarf in colder weather. Again, you won’t be tying a knot in the Reverse Drape scarf, but it will provide plenty of neck coverage.

Take the other end of the scarf and put it around your neck and the opposite shoulder and do the same on the other side. No need to tie – adjust the scarf around your neck if necessary and you’re done.

Take the longer end of the scarf and wrap it around your neck once. Now take the same end and pull it through the newly formed loop. Grab the other side of the scarf and also put it through the loop to tie a knot. Adjust the scarf if necessary.

Take the longer end of the scarf and bring it up and around your neck. Now cross the longer end of the scarf over the other end, then bring it up and through the opening you just made to tie a knot.
Another great way to tie a long scarf, the Four In Hand scarf knot protects the neck very well. It might look advanced, but it’s perfect for keeping warm in cold weather. Isn’t that what wearing a scarf is all about?
Ways To Tie A Silk Scarf
With many folds, this scarf knot is also one of the most complicated ways to tie a scarf. Fold the scarf in half, lengthwise and widthwise, like a Paris knot, then drape it around your neck.
Take one loose end of the scarf and pull it through the loop formed by the folded end. Twist the loop and then pull the other end of the scarf through the loop to tie a knot.
You can wear this knot with pride knowing that it holds an interesting place in scarf history. This knot was popularized by Victorian coaches and drivers when it was discovered that it could be tied while holding a horse’s reins.
The Twice Around scarf knot is the best choice for cold weather Four in Hand, but it’s much easier to tie. Again, this works best if you use a longer scarf.

Wrap the scarf around your neck so that one end is much longer than the other. Take the longer end of the scarf and wrap it around your neck and then repeat and bring it around your neck a second time. This is another knot where you don’t tie the scarf yourself.
If necessary, adjust the scarf so that it covers your neck completely and you are ready for whatever the winter weather throws at you.
