As someone who is always cold, I love to wear shawls during the fall and winter to keep me warm and add an extra layer to my look. Felt scarves are very versatile and can be tied in different ways to give you multiple looks. Here I’m wearing the same 52 x 52 square felt scarf, but showing you 15 different looks. Felt scarves are also available in rectangular shapes, but in my opinion, these are a bit more difficult to style in different ways.

My most used felt scarf during the fall and winter is a checkered felt scarf. I love wearing this print all season, and it adds more interest to a basic outfit.

Most looks with a felt scarf start with this basic fold. Take a corner of the scarf and fold it in half and fold it to the opposite side of the fabric, creating a triangle shape. I put mine on the floor to make the frayed edges nice and smooth. The magic trick to styling a felt scarf is to take the time to fluff it. Separate and/or fold it down to finish off any look. It also helps keep the scarf away from your neck if you feel overwhelmed by the material. You can see it perfectly in the video below.

A large felt scarf is my favorite accessory during the cold winter months. I also love traveling with them because they can act as a real blanket in the car or on an airplane.

A quick tip if you feel overwhelmed with a large scarf. I usually like to put my hair in a messy bun or ponytail, just so it doesn’t get tangled.

If you’re looking for new scarves, I’m obsessed with these adorable (and cheap) flannels for fall. Combine it with a cozy sweater and high boots and forget about it. Basically, my love language. Or how about these cute floral scarves?

Just so you know, I made up names for some of these methods :)… Here goes!

Wrap the scarf once around the neck like a classic loop. Then take the ends and wrap them around the loop one at a time as loosely or tightly as you like.

Just take your scarf and fold it in half. Wrap around the neck as if you were making a graded euro loop (#8). Turn where the scarf is folded and make one end under the loop and the other over the loop.
